Installation, 2023

In this work, I have delved into the intricate nature of traumatic memory and the inherent difficulty of finding answers to the questions it raises.
As a complement to the photographic series, I have created this installation comprising a piece of furniture that embodies the fragility of memory.
It features drawers of varying sizes, symbolizing our methods of preserving memories, with some larger and others more easily accessible.

Each drawer holds sand, representing the multiplicity of trauma and time. Whether wet, kneaded, dry, or fragmented, it expresses the diverse facets that trauma and time can assume,
thereby reflecting the manifold dimensions of this experience. The interplay of black stains and sand creates a captivating and evocative visual dance.
At times, the stain symbolizing trauma conceals itself, underscoring the subtlety and complexity of its impact.
Through the use of symbolism and the expressive qualities of materials, I explore the shifting forms and textures that enable us to grasp the entirety of the traumatic experience.
The sand becomes a fluid medium, illustrating the myriad experiences we can undergo.

The drawers, repositories of memories, are sometimes removed from the furniture, taken out and overturned, suggesting a loss of bearings in the face of unsolicited reminiscences.
The compartments, representing memories and the act of remembering, along with the furniture itself, constitute the supporting structure.
By combining these elements, I seek to highlight the complexity of our memory and question our relationship with our recollections.
